For those interested, make sure you mention it every time you talk to 
them, and make it clear during the install; otherwise they'll kill the 
copper by default, and you can't get it back.  This got discussed to 
death over at dslreports.com.

Anecdote: I hate Verizon just as much as anybody, but FIOS is the best 
connection I've ever had.  In ~2 years of service, it's gone down once, 
for a few minutes.  Speeds are consistent, no caps, and switching to 
fiber made my phone line sound noticeably better.  Beats the hell out 
of cable.</slurpfest>
