[nylug-talk] [ot] anything happening with VMWARE?

Keep in mind folks that vmware 2.x is still in beta. I actually prefer the web interface in the hopes that it will make the remote console usable over the intarwebs. Yes you could always forward the vmware console port, but even if you disabled ssl, accessing the vm via vmware console over the intarwebs was so slow as to be unusable.

Every time I've tried to use vmware server 2.0 on a windows host, something has crashed. But for now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because its still in beta. Hopefully I won't be dissapointed.

I agree. VMware 2.x is junk...unusable

VirtualBox is great! And I have extensive virtualization experience
from a programmer's/user's perspective. VMware's API, when it works,
is great. I have never tried the Virtualbox API. Most people will
not even care about either API I suppose :-)

Someone told me that Virtualbox has the ability to run a program
outside the box and directly on your host, just like Apple's feature
when running Windows programs. I haven't tried it, so I can't comment
other than to say that it appears to work from what I am told...
