As a guy who used to do the Frontpage writeups I'll tell you that they aren't 
easy to create.  The delay from the time the speaker is confirmed to a 
writeup is had is much larger than people think.

It makes sense to change the RSVP without a proper front page partly because 
they're are people who don't care for the topic, they'll just show up.  And 
there are people who don't care for the write up once they know what the 
topic is about.  (ie: KDE, the kernel, samba, whatever)
