Did you look at the archives, or just your inbox?  A gmail "feature"
according to them and a nuisance according to everyone else is that to
"save clutter" (their words) if you post to a mailing list, you won't
get a copy in your inbox.  There's some workaround if you send from the
web interface, I believe, but I fear I've forgotten what it is. 

I saw the message twice on the list. (That's not a complaint, just a
comment to point out that it makes me think your problem was simply that
gmail feature.
