There have been some updates to CUPS drivers, many of which recommend to
remove printers in CUPS and remake them to use the new driver.

Ever since switching to CUPS printing on *nix has generally been a
pleasure. [And the exceptions are mostly complaints of "I can't print this
web page..." because the web page wasn't designed for printing.]

You want help debugging a printer connection issue, you should mention how
the printer is connected. Parallel port? USB? Network?
If it's connected via USB, have a look at the output of the 'dmesg', as
there are kernel messages as USB devices are added or removed. Is perhaps
the computer on a UPS but not the printer?
