Will give you composite video output, add a DC-DC power supply, and you're
good to go.

Subject: [nylug-talk] NTSC
Hi.
I just bought a 2004 Toyota Prius.
No, it doesn't run Linux.
It doesn't seem to run Monopolistic Software.
CAN-VIEW is an interface module that will allow me
to use the Prius Multi-Function Display (MFD) to display
dianostic info, including, Watts used, etc.
This is an essential part in the process of
adding a power cord to the prius. *
(* No, I don't expect to buy 32 miles of 12 gauge extension cords :-)
CAN-View can also accept external video input.
That's the relevance to Nylug.
I would like to feed the Prius MFD from a
Linux Single Board Computer (SBC).
The catch is, the CAN-View board expects NTSC timing. (see below)
I'm no expert on these signals, so I was
hoping to find someone here who would know
what it would take to build a Linux SBC to drive it.
I'm a fan of Soekris Single Board Computers -
They have some that take a MiniPCI card - I may even have one.
Ideally, I am looking to get a video card that
can run on included drivers (or apt-get-able drivers),
the first time. I am not planning to take
the display into the house to hack on for days/weeks/years.
(The note from http://hybridinterfaces.ca/extvid.html is quoted below:)
Note that the Prius MFD accepts only RGB and sync at NTSC timings
(15.7KHz horizontal). Most computers are unable to provide this with
'standard' software. However, some experimenters have found that
programs like Powerstrip enable them to display on the MFD via CAN-view
without any additional hardware.
Thanks
Seth
