Well what microsoft is required to do and what they actually do are not always or even usually the same thing.
What alternative, if any, does apple offer for groupware?

I think we're beating dead horses here, but my big hope as far as this
stuff goes, is that Apple's increasing market share may force Microsoft
to be a little more accommodating when it comes to support for
standards-based systems. Don't they have to offer interoperability
documentation for Exchange now as a result of the EU conviction?
