I think on the original Xbox they lost something like $130 per console. On
the 360 that's down to $71 per console (might be less now, not sure). In
2007, they sold 4,620,000 consoles, so that's a loss of around $328M.
As we all know, the newest sexiest tech is often not successful. The
Nintendo Wii and DS outsold all other consoles last year even though the
Wii is not much better than the old GameCube technology-wise.
