That of course, depends on what you're doing. But I think for MOST tasks
they are Good Enough, maybe not for YOU. (For evidence of this, I would
suggest you do some Googling of large scale deployments in government
organizations here and abroad, that have started happening over the past 5
years, that have been reported widely).
So far Ive managed to get away with not having to install Office on my Mac
at work even though the very large company that owns the company I work
for (dont want to name names here) are about as rigidly corporate in their
IT as you can get (Even memos sent by email are often annoyingly sent
attached as Word documents - like using a large sledgehammer to tap in a
pin).
BTW, I actually used to think like you do too but Im much better now.
