[nylug-talk] best thumb drive distro?

Just wondering: anyone have suggestions for best linux distro for a
thumb drive, with the criteria being (in order of importance):
a) size (my thumb drive is 512MB, and I still want to leave room for data)
b) ease of install
c) most system recovery utils provided
I tried to install Puppy one day when I was in a rush, but it didn't
seem to boot for some reason. (The installation instructions were
pretty crappy, which I think was a contributing factor.)
I later was able to get a different distro installed (I can't recall
which) but it didn't have reiser utils, so it wound up not being any
help in what I was trying to do. (Fix a corrupted Linux installation on
a laptop that has no CD drive.)
TIA,
DR
