I understand that Broadcom driver was the ones supported by HP back in RH 6,
7, 8, 9 and 2.1 AS.  After RHEL 3 the certified driver by HP and RH is TG3.

There is not reason to use BMC57XX drivers at least is clearly stated by
your hardware vendor according to your running OS.  We use TG3 and Intel
drivers in our HP farm of over 4,000 servers, where only some old servers
running  RHAS 2.1 are using bcm5700 drivers.

I know the broadcom drivers sucks,  they are proprietary drivers and lack
many features that opensource drivers have.
