I came up with a way to quantify how bad a company is. Do a google, on "company name sucks".
Results 1 - 10 of about 525,000 for dreamhost sucks. (0.16 seconds)
This is a very large number for a small company. It would be better to divide the google suckage ratio, by the number of customers to calculate the google suckage per customer, but I have no way of guessing the number of customers. By way of comparison:
Results 1 - 10 of about 925,000 for t-mobile sucks. (0.13 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,120,000 for microsoft sucks. (0.11 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,350,000 for sprint sucks. (0.19 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,120,000 for comcast sucks. (0.15 seconds)

I had posted a request to the NYCBUG list asking about online
rsync'able storage last week...I had listed DreamHost as one of the
options (because they were cheap).
More than current and former DreamHost customer wrote me off-list to
tell me that their service sucks major monkey balls and the downtime
was not worth the savings.
(FWIW, rsync.net got the most reccomendations and glowing reviews from
their users.
They don't do VPS or hosting I don't think, so it's not relevant to
this thread.)
