Dreamhost's not new.  I've been a DH customer for a couple of years now, 
and although they're pretty good, a couple of things you should be aware of:

1) it's not a virtual server (i.e., no root).  (If you're looking for a 
good virtual server, check out www.linode.com)

2) they give you a lot of space and bandwidth, but are very tight on you 
doing anything that uses a lot of CPU  (e.g.:  I maxxed my CPU quota one 
day by trying to gunzip a multi-GB tarball)

3) they give you a lot of space and bandwidth, but their TOS says that 
you're only allowed to use it for hosting ... and they've recently 
informed that they're going to start cracking down on people who use it 
primarily for other things (like offsite backups).  (See:

So yeah - for hosting, they're a good value for the money.  But if 
you're looking for a virtual server or just a plain old shell account 
with ample disk and bandwidth, look elsewhere.
