All the media companies needed was the DMCA to be passed. They can enforce
it themselves. (Besides what politician wants to be associated with lawsuits
against kids?) The truth is nobody except the media companies and their
lawyers have anything to gain by enforcing these horrible laws.
Besides a heck of a lot of firms are now offering downloads without

This law that is going to turn Universities into unpaid RIAA/MPAA/Apple
lackies. It will pass. Money has completely perverted democracy. (Remember
this law is good for Apple also, as it will drive the students towards the
iTunes music/video store.)
