I don't know how old the drive is, I got three of the same type of laptops
all P4 Compaq's Evo N800V.  Only
one of them came with a hard drive.  I came to posses these machines because
my previous job was throwing them out.
My guess is because: a) the machines are 'old' P4's and b) they couldn't get
Windows to come up.
I had to buy memory and scratch up a universal power adapter.
Linux seems to run just fine.  8-B
