I built a rack case for musician. It needed to be quiet. It took a lot 
of doing - acoustic deadening material; very expensive, very quiet fans; 
special quiet power supply (not sure how we did that one - his rackmount 
may have accept ATX supplies), etc, etc, etc.

Probably not worth it for most folks.
