IIRC, the UML code went through several phases where it was out of the
kernel, then it was in the kernel and maintained properly and not again,
etc etc.
Most probably those problems went away a long time ago and UML code is
now maintained alongside the kernel code. Jeff Pike works for Intel on
this stuff and has been since 2004.
