I have a PC that I was dual booting with Windoze and FC5. Recently, we have
started using this machine for Linux exclusively and I am running out of
room on the small partition I originally set up for FC5. I used Knoppix and
qtparted to resize the windows partition freeing up 8.5GB of space. I would
like to add that space to my FC5 parition. However, I am running into some
issues. When I resized the Windows partition (/dev/hda1) it shows the free
space as /dev/hda-1. Qtparted has /dev/hda-1 marked as Hidden and I cannot
changes it or format that free space.
I know that qtparted does not let you resize ext3, but I am having a hard
time turning off journaling for my FC5 partition. I guess it is setup using
LVM on /dev/hda4. So if I try and run tune2fs on /dev/hda4 from Knoppix, it
says it cannot find a ext3 partition on this drive? If I try and run tune2fs
on the logical volume while in FC5, it says I must mount it as read only.
However, this logical volume is mounted as "/". Any suggestions on how to
get that extra 8.5GB of free space so I can use it with FC5?
Thanks
~Paul
