* Description: Intelligent and resourceful individual sought to join
  the Kaptest Technology Operations team. This position will be the
  lead on a team supporting a farm of Linux and Solaris systems. S/he
  will also have an active role in architecting/ specifying/
  installing/ configuring/ maintaining and monitoring new systems as
  well as those already in place.

  This is a team lead position and the ideal candidate will be someone
  with an extensive knowledge of multiple Unix operating systems. The
  individual should be a dedicated, methodical, energetic and polished
  professional, congenial and team spirited with exceptional technical
  and problem resolution skills. As a key resource on our technical
  team, the candidate will work both as an individual contributor and
  as part of our team of Information Technology professionals. The
  position will often require direct interaction with our internal
  business users and so requires excellent written and oral
  communication skills.

  Responsibilities:
  o Implement and maintain RedHat and Sun Solaris systems.
  o Administration of JBoss in RedHat Linux Environment.
  o Perform hardware, operating system, security and application
    updates/patches on these systems.
  o Monitor UNIX/Linux systems for performance and availability.
  o Work with team on defining best practices for supporting our
    environment.
  o Work with various development groups to deploy application code
    into Staging and Production environments.
  o Interface with business to identify practical solutions applicable
    to the business needs based on available technology.
  o Assist in maintaining the current storage environments
    (SAN, NAS, DAS, etc.).
  o Assist in performing routine capacity planning tasks for storage
    assets, generate utilization and performance reports, and maintain
    documentation of storage environment.
  o Assist in maintaining and managing enterprise tape backup and
    recovery, ensuring the data integrity process is maintained.
  o Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning, deployment
    and testing.
  o Work with various business units to understand and meet their
    storage needs and to deploy application code into Staging and
    Production environments.
  o Respond to tickets through a ticketing system.
  o Assist with data center redesign projects.
  o Work with project managers and technical staff in defining
    and documenting technical project requirements.
  o Manage team schedule and queues.
  o Participation in our on-call rotation and will require off-shift
    work to accomplish team objectives.

* Required Skills:
  o 6+ years working with: Solaris and RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  o Ability to troubleshoot issues using utilities such as iostat,
    vmstat, truss, gdb, dtrace.
  o Familiar with standard development utilities much as make, cvs,
    ldd, nm, etc.
  o Production installation and support of Apache and JBoss systems.
  o Production experience with MySQL.
  o Experience with Jumpstart and Kickstart installation methods.
    This should include customization.
  o Experience with one or more of the following: Cacti, Nagios,
    Big Brother, ATG.
  o Storage hardware (EMC Clariion , NAS, etc…)
  o Veritas Products (Netbackup, VCS)
  o Able to automate routine tasks using Shell or Perl scripting
  o Performance tuning and capacity planning fundamentals
  o Understanding of security best practices such at minimal
    install sets, server hardening, and system patching.
  o Positive attitude and ability to effectively work with others
  o Excellent written and oral communication skills
  o Solaris and Red Hat certifications are a plus.

* Furthermore:
  This is a posting for the lead position. We also have a slot for a
  mid-level UNIX administrator, where the duties and skills requires
  are similar, although requirements are less stringent, e.g. 6+ years
  experience is not required etc.
