portage which is modeled on BSD ports.
everything is compiled so no (dll | rpm) hell.
excellent online help.
lots of configuration options (USE flags) when compiling applications so
you can strip things down.
Great if you need to compile your own stuff 'cause all the dev libs are
always installed.
Things just often seem to be done in a sane way (feels more BSDish)
