Merry Band,
A colleague of mine has a linux system with an LVM volume that
spans three physical hard drives and has found out that his LVM
metadata file has been corrupted or destroyed in some way. As a
result, he can not access any data across all three of these
hard disks. Ironicly, he was in the midst of trying to back up
his volumes when this disaster struck.
Is there *any* way to recover his data files from these drives?
Is there any tool that will do a repair of the LVM metadata
file or can help salvage the files? We've looked into hiring
data-recovery specialists, but it sounds like a multi-thousand
dollar adventure... Does anyone here have any expertise in
dealing with LVM or do you know anyone who does?
Any help would be appreciated!
thanks,
-dave
