Fascinating.  Care to back this up with some statistics?  Like bell
curves of drive failures for different models, manufacturers, etc.?

If I had the reference handy I would present it but I don't.

But look at any SAN that did not come from a HD manufacturer and
you will probably see drives from different manufactures in the unit.
