# Description: Ideally, the candidate would have 5-7 years in UNIX
systems administration, preferably in a mission-critical financial
environment. Furthermore, experience with vendors such as Sun, RedHat,
Suse, Dell, IBM, HP, etc. is highly regarded, and who has exposure to
environments that feature a wide variety of applications - database, web
servers, application servers, packet filters, and the like. Experience
with leveraging the Linux platform is a must.
# Required Skills:
•Preferably, a minimum of 5 years in the Linux/UNIX systems administration
•Expertise with: X11, ssh, sendmail and mailing systems, packet
filtering concepts, backups and restorations using various tools, NFS,
DNS, NTP administration, etc.
•Expertise with Sun Solaris and should be familiar with all aspects of
administration and troubleshooting & performance tuning. Should be
familiar with Solaris-specific attributes, such as kernel tuning and
status-gathering operations with ndd and mdb.
•An expert with Linux, particularly RedHat or Suse. Should be familiar
with all aspects of administration and troubleshooting, prominently RAID
configuration, kernel tuning, etc. You should be an expert with
emergency intervention on Linux/Intel-based systems.
•A detailed understanding and expertise with building and maintaining
high-quality monitoring infrastructure.
•A substantial understanding and exposure to database technologies
(Sybase/Oracle)
•Experience with shared storage systems (EMC or similar technologies -
NAS/SAN) and clustering technologies is preferable
•Exposure to Application servers such as Weblogic, Jrun, Tomcat, etc is
preferable
•Experienced with supporting end-users with basic usability needs.
Assisting with the setup and use of cygwin/X, Windows ssh clients, and
the like. This candidate should have good people skills.
•Exposure to security devices, especially packet filters of variant
types, particularly the more prominent vendors (CheckPoint, PIX), and
Netfilter. Intrusion detection devices, network security analysis tools
(nmap, snort, etc).
•Prominent industry certifications are a big plus: Solaris certification
& RHCE certification
•Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience.
•Solid skills and discipline for change management practices and processes
•Exceptional communication skills (listening, written and oral).
•Motivated, well organized and resourceful
