One of my favourite memories of Cuba is driving down the highway and
seeing a big sign frame - it obviously signified something, once, but
no sign remained, just the frame. But that was OK, because there was a
guy standing there available to provide directions.
US signs are certainly crap though, with NY being among the worst. Part
of that is because there are just so many of them, and the "system"
seems to be to just add new ones rather than any kind of cleanup.
