Compiling your own Apache leaves the package management system believing
one thing when something else is true.  This is not a good thing.  Of
course this isn't really about compiling, it's about packages, which you
and I have tussled over in the past, and there's little point in doing
so again.  The only thing that surprises me is that you still haven't
switched to a packageless Linux, although I suppose it doesn't really
matter if you're going to completely ignore the package management
system that's already there.
