You used a lot of words... And stilll didn't give the specifics of your setup.
... You want a generic guide...
1. Get drivers for you card
2. Put your card in
3. Modprobe the drivers
I'm not trying to be a jerk... But specifics matter, especially with technology.
Google gentoo madwifi ... There is a gentoo wiki I read when I set up my atheros based card.

Maybe I should rephrase what I'm looking for since I'm getting here the same thing as Google, a number of very specific caveats but not the installation method itself.
What I am looking for is a basic, step by step guide to installing a pcmcia wireless card under linux (that is, a distro-agnostic installation guide) that gives the basic approach that underlies the specific distro installation methods.
I am *also* looking for a step by step guide to installing a new wireless card in FC6. It doesn't have to be a g, I'd actually just like to find a guide that tells you in a straightforward way how to install *any* wireless card, (such as an Orinoco Silver!)
After looking at a hundred or so Google hits I have found lots of instructions for highly specific instances but I'm just looking for the basic installation method.
This is a lot of words to describe something I thought would be the top search result.
being hopeful,
Matt
