Many BIOSes (especially thinkpad ones) lockout non IBM/Lenovo OEM wifi cards.  
So buying your own and slapping it in there may prevent you computer from 
booting entirely.

You can look at the cards IBM is offering, figure out whats actually behind 
the card instead of just the marketing name and buy it on ebay.  (ie:  IBM 
A/B/G card is really an Intel/Orinoco/Etc 1234 A/B/G card.)

A device might be rebranded 50 bazillion times, but the unique FCC ID's never 
change.  (Well, once in a while they do, very very rarely.)

The above is your safest bet.
