# Description: Position Description:

* Design and implementation engineering for application environments.
* Responsible for resolving faults and root cause analysis
* System administrative functions such as Linux/Unix installation, 
script writing, creating secure NFS shares, adding and removing users, 
adding / removing applications to startup procedures, and configuring 
network devices, ports, and protocols.
* Heavy scripting in Perl and shell.
* Design, implement and maintain hardened Linux build
* Debug and solve networking issues by reading TCP/IP traces
* Troubleshoot and fix DNS, DHCP, CIFS and NFS issues
* Ability to performance statistics and diagnose/resolve NetApp faults
* Integrate patches, tools and kernels Configure, compile, debug and 
install custom Linux kernels; install and configure Open Source and 
custom developed applications. Monitor and report resource consumption 
(disk, network, CPU)
* Work with customers to understand and implement their requirements
* Provide regular status for relevant activities to customers and 
management Create tools using Perl, HTML, DHTML, Cascading Style Sheets, 
JavaScript and SQL

# Required Skills: The candidate should also meet these additional 
requirements:

* Strong inter-personal and communication skills
* Significant experience and knowledge of the lifecycle of engineering, 
implementation and administration for application infrastructures.
* At least 5+ years of relevant technology experience
* Ability to solve problems quickly, completely and calmly.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them.
* A solid understanding of a Linux/Unix-based operating system; 
understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, file 
system concepts, can use performance analysis to tune systems.
* Familiarity with fundamental distributed computing environment concepts.
* Ability to program in shell and Perl, familiarity with HTML.
* Must be able to sustain a high rate of workflow and work on multiple 
projects.
* Appreciates and thrives in a collaborate and small team environment
* History of successful interaction with customers
* Deployment and administration of Windows skill helpful.
