Horizon Wimba, the leader in web-based collaboration software designed 
for online education, language learning and live interactive 
communications, seeks a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to provide 
server, infrastructure, and applications support as part of its global 
system operations team. This position will be also responsible for the 
development and documentation of deployment tools for future releases of 
our products.

Location - New York

# Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Routine Systems Admin functions to maintain both internal and customer 
facing servers.
* Design and development of deployment tools for software deployments 
and upgrades.
* Manage change management system.
* Oversee standardization and administration of server farms at hosting 
facilities.
* Configure and manage performance monitoring tools and notification 
services.
* Design, configure and tune high availability Linux systems.
* Undertake various housekeeping and reporting functions for the areas 
of responsibility, including maintenance of shared resources.
* Ability to be on-call 24x7 to respond to site outages and emergencies 
(will be scheduled).
* Compose and edit documentation for sysops team and end-user.
* Assist in implementing, executing, maintaining, and documenting proper 
back-up and recovery procedures.
* Handling routine admin requests directly from clients.
* Participate in product deployments, upgrades and maintenance.
* Maintain the patch levels of all OS and application patches on all 
systems.
* Support third party applications products used in support of corporate 
mission critical systems.
* Mentor and guide junior team members.

# Technical Skills and Technologies Required

* 4+ years system administration experience
* BA/BS Degree
* Strong scripting/programming skills with experience in Perl, Python, 
Bash or other scripting languages.
* Through knowledge of RHEL/CENTOS
* PostgreSQL, mysql, Oracle
* Strong Linux security skills
* Virtualization, cvs/subversion
* Windows 2003 Server, AD
* Exceptional Networking skills
* Performance Monitoring/Hardware Sizing
* LDAP
