# Description:
The ITS Data Center at Yale has two Unix System Administrator positions 
available.

Position Descriptions:
* Provide Unix system administration as a member of the technical team 
responsible for Yale University's email, web and other critical Unix 
servers in a dynamic, 24/7/365 production data center environment. This 
role requires broad and deep technology knowledge and a commitment to 
excellence.
* Ensure performance, reliability and security on Unix systems 
supporting 30,000 email users.
* Install, configure, document and maintain Unix operating systems, 
applications and system management tools including Sendmail, Cyrus IMAP, 
Apache, Tomcat, Cfengine, Kickstart, Bind, Horde, MIMEDefang, 
SpamAssassin, ClamAV, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
* Provide performance tuning, capacity planning, automation and 
documentation for systems and applications. Collaborate as a knowledge 
leader in the specification, design and deployment of hardware and 
software. Perform some off-shift work with rotating on-call coverage.

# Required Skills: Extensive knowledge of and experience with Unix 
operating systems (Solaris or Linux preferred), utilities, tools and 
applications. Thorough knowledge of and extensive experience supporting 
production Unix environments, email and/or web servers and related 
applications. Thorough knowledge of host-based security best practices 
and tools. Demonstrated ability to write scripts in Shell, Perl or other 
administrative scripting languages. Demonstrated analytical, creative 
problem-solving, communication and organizational skills; ability to 
develop and document complex procedures; ability to work independently 
and as a team member.

*** Systems Programmer I, ITS Data Center - CCRM34331: Requires a 
Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience supporting production 
Unix systems in a 24/7/365 environment, or equivalent combination of 
education and experience.

*** Systems Programmer II, ITS Data Center - CCRM34332: Requires a 
Bachelor's degree plus four years of experience supporting production 
Unix systems in a 24/7/365 environment, or equivalent combination of 
education and experience.
