# Description: Email Data Source, a venture-backed, rapidly growing tech 
start-up is seeking a highly experienced and motivated core Java and 
database developer who is interested in building our next generation 
back-end and middle-tier systems.

Our entire systems are built on Linux, MySQL and use many, many open 
source software packages and libraries. While we do not release our own 
software, we have and routinely engage with the open source community by 
contributing bug fixes, changes and enhancements for the packages that 
we use. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is familiar 
with those products to join our company.

COMPANY: Our main product, Email Analyst, is the first system built to 
track, monitor and analyze third party email marketing messages and 
advertisements. The product was launched in 2003 and since then has been 
used by a number of leading advertising agencies, brand and direct 
marketers.

POSITION: This will be our second developer hire and will work directly 
with the Co-Founder & CTO to design and develop large portions of our 
next generation systems. As a data company we have several large 
databases and this position will work directly with all of those systems 
in both a development and design capacity. As a small company, we move 
quickly, often design on the fly and spend lots of time coding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Working with the CTO to design systems.
* Coding/Implementing (lots of it)
* Testing & Optimization

It is important to point out that due to the volume and scale of our 
data, our software is designed to be extremely stable and achieve 
high-performance. We spend lots of time optimizing and pride ourselves 
on writing clean, stable code that can run for extended periods of time 
without interruption. So we're really looking for someone who loves 
programming, takes pride in their work, has experience with large data 
sets and is interested in solving challenging problems.

COMPENSATION: $80k or higher depending on experience + Full Benefits.

This is an on-site position located in Manhattan's Financial district.

# Required Skills:
* Experience with Java 5, J2EE, Ant, Linux, MySQL are a must.
* Experience with Apache Lucene, JFreeChart, AJAX, HTML/DHTML/CSS are a 
plus.
* Familiarity with IP Multicast, Sockets, Image Processing, AWT are a plus.
