[nylug-talk] Linux Newbie Seeks Embedded Wisdom

Hello List!

I am an artist and software engineer who lives in Brooklyn.  OS X.3  
was my gateway drug into exploring Linux.  I  recently installed  
Kubuntu Dapper on a EPIA VIA box, and I am pretty much hooked.  I am  
attempting to create a solid state linux box for a project I am  
working on - but my lack of understanding about a few things Linux is  
slowing this process down more than I would like.  I hope this is the  
right place to seek some help.

To be more specific - I have setup a system that works well off a  
hard drive.  I would like to run this off of compact flash instead.   
There are a few articles out there that describe how to do this, but  
they are sprinkled with just enough jargon to confuse me.  I figured  
posting geographically might make more sense in case this requires a  
phone discussion or the possibility to meet with the actual hardware.
