Hi Kev, thanks for chiming in. I haven't worked with hdparm before, but 
I will look into it. For the swap I just took the defaults when 
installing xubuntu, and it looks like I have around 360 megs for swap 
(right? fdisk reports 369463 blocks...). Still, I was hoping not to have 
to go to swap just to open a web page; thought the RAM would handle it 
on its own.
