Hi Allen,
the president of Gnubies uses Japanese Knoppix [0]
I'd burn a copy and have her try it out on a 1GHZ machine to get used to
Linux. If you contact the president of Gnubies, she may give you some
tips as she uses Japanese almost exclusively on Gnu/Linux in her
vocation as a translator.
