I've had good luck with linux installs auto-detecting LVM volumes. The
command "lvs" will show you what volumes are detected. If these machines
were setup to use the same volume group name, there could be a conflict
that causes problems. If that is the case, see "vgrename".
Also, you can use "vgs" to see the detected volume groups and "pvs" to see
detected physical volumes.
On my Mandriva and Debian systems, LVM volumes show up as
/dev/volumegroup/volumename, such as /dev/vg0/root
