The speedy Shuttle box I used at the Gentoo talk is 64-bit (Im using a 
Pentium D, but it can be upgraded to an Intel Core Duo):

The barebones on newegg was $335 (I added a CD burner, 160Gb SATA drive, 
1Gb RAM and dual-core CPU for another $340).

Very happy so far - the 945G chipset graphics and sound are fully 
supported (I was able to get DRI working with the standard xorg server).
