Its not the heat that causes system halt. Its the BIOS telling OS via ACPI
that its getting hot. OS, in turn does the shutdown.
It is a reasonable and conservative thing to do. Check in bios whether
there's configurable trip temperature. If you are confident that its not a
problem, you can disable acpi altogether.
