Top-posting is not forbidden, and you'll find Peter does it
occasionally. If you're on a mobile though, you'll appreciate that the
list guidelines do ask that people cut appropriately and only cite
relevant material in replies.
Top-posting will however cause no small number of people to not want to
devote time to replying. That's a choice they made for themselves,
rather than one we're making for them, or for the poster. It may be
there are people who won't reply to mail that isn't top-posted, but I
haven't heard of their existence yet. (which of course means the
universe is about to show me such a person)
Found this in my drafts... having typed it up weeks ago, I might as
well send it, as I find the discussion interesting and useful. How do
*you* read the list? Is there a something about the list's present form
that's problematic for you? I read the list on my cellphone sometimes,
and it's a pain, but I'm not sure there's anything that would make that
less painful.
