What started all this was my post... I like to get hardware fully supported 
through open source drivers, by the manufacturer.  If NVidia were to open up 
their drivers including 3D capabilities, I doubt I would have even brought it 
up :)

Obviously theres some areas that it just can't be done.  The PC this is all 
about, for me, is a new a/v workstation.  The pro audio realm hasn't quite 
gotten there yet, though many have signed NDA's with prominent developers for 
the design specifications to allow open drivers to be developed - such as 
with FreeBoB development.  So, I'll do what I can, where I can, to let 
manufacturers know what I want is good hardware, with free, open drivers.  I 
want their involvement in the community, and thats going to drive my 
spending.  With any luck, enough of us will do the same, and the idea will 
get through :)
