This is what I've always heard bandied about by those who claim to know
those who know.  Supposedly there's this understanding on all sides that
each is violating the other's patents.  Even if they weren't, we can
safely assume they don't want this stuff public because too many of the
interesting bits have moved off the hardware and into the driver and
sharing them isn't part of their business plan.
