Tom, I am without useful speech before this question, mainly due
to general ignorance, but I am especially useless because for so
long all Debian instances I use run a DHCP system which works
with Cable Companies' Net Connections, with all municipal LANs I
have tried, and with just about all private and business LANs.

Is the cable box on?  What do the four lights do?
