[nylug-talk] road-runner + linuxOnly + wireless AP

A friend has RR which she was using with a WinPC until the WinPC broke. I
tried connecting my Linux notebook to her cable modem, setting my ethernet
card for DHCP, and was not able to get an IP. Doing IFCONFIG shows that the
eth0 is connected to something but no IP number and when I try to ping out I
get "network not available".

Could it be that the CableModem needs some special reset to work with a new
computer?
I've tried leaving it off a couple of hours and trying again but no go.

Ideas?

Tom
