This is actually how Microsoft will attempt to cause Linux (or what is 
commonly known as Linux - kernel + certain apps) to fork. It won't help 
if we end up with two major flavors - MSBlessed and Normal.

I expect that the first fruits will include closed-source kernel modules 
to allow for excellent SMB/CIFs and NTFS compatibility. They'll keep on 
doing this with both kernel mods and userland stuff to get things to the 
  point where both Linux and notable projects are being destroyed.

Honestly, they're simply taking a page from Nvidia's playbook. Theo was 
right about this stuff.
