[nylug-talk] bandwidth exchange? (as opposed to monthly commit)

It is my understanding that ISPs charge for the 95th percentile
used during any 5 minute period (Cisco switches provide average
bandwidth utilization in 5-minute chunks).

If you have a couple of really heavy 5-minute periods in a month,
you could pay a lot. So, most of those ISPs will give you a maximum
amount. I don't know what the minimum you can buy; that probably
depends on your negotiating skills. Let us know what you find.
