[nylug-talk] Linux handhelds

I'm looking to get a linux handheld of some sort but am having a bit of
a hard time finding what I want or can afford, and would like to pick
the brains of the list for a minute.

I've got a couple of priorities for the machine. It should run on Linux,
it should have wifi (or there should be a wireless card that works
easily with it), ideally I'd also be able to do some basic
wordprocessing / spreadsheet work as well. I'm not in the technology
business so I don't need it to do any sort of programming / network
stuff.

My first inclination is the new Nokia 770. But I've recently seen an old
HP Jornada 720 available for a great price. I've found a couple of
projects to get the Jornada running linux, but it seems a bit daunting.
(I'm not a programmer.) Is the Jornada a viable option? Is it reasonable
to get it running linux? Can I get Openoffice (Lite or otherwise)
running on the thing? I have a spare Orinoco Gold wireless card, will
that work with the Jornada?

Advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Fred
