As a web end user, I notice languages by filename extension.  (Sorry 
folks, but I have yet to see any real world RubyonRails usage, no 
flames, just my honest experiences.)  No real changes 
between .asp{x}, .jsp, .php, etc

As a package manager, I see whatever languages/libraries packages start 
to depend on.  So far the trend is clear:  python is picking up steam.  
(you can tell a language is gaining ground when distros start writing 
language specific packaging policies for it.)
