Conway is not that good, I have read his books and his explanation of Perl
borders on a Saturday morning cartoon characterization.  He talks more about
things that people with too much free time on their hands would find
interesting, like Perls Obfuscated Code contests.
His version of Adanced Perl Programming really really sucks, its nowhere
near the level of information that Sririam Sirinivasan had put into his
book.  It looks to me that more people are interested in memorizing code
rather than understanding what happens behind the scenes which is what
Conway appeal really is.

Besides that, the post is very much on topic, my complaint is the quality of
the presenter not whether the post is germain.

Also, where does Alex find the time to post to the list so often?
I would think that the only reason nylug gets so much traffic is because of
the amount of people in general in NYC.  For a hand few people posting so
often to the list (Sulzberg is another person) is a little unusual.
