This is a bug.  If code has already been written to detect which
ports have which devices on them, and also code has been written
to change the service-port table, then, in case the system is not
working as the user expects, the user should push a button to
either correct the table, or to have the system present a
readable picture of the situation, and then a menu of
modification commands.
