For about $20,000 Liebert makes a nice unit that'll
power your house...

IBM used units called "big iron pigs" to power computers.
They were basically a motor-generator with big flywheel
between them to lend significant hysterisis.

Short of that the combination of an APC Line-R 1750 line
conditioner feeding your UPS will stop most things. The
conditioner deals with brownouts, glitches, and makes
a cheaper sacrificial ligthning arrestor ($50) than a
full-blown UPS.
