I'm looking for OS agnostic provider that won't filter any ports (obviously). I also like to support local biz and my search has turned up AceDSL, Bway, and most recently Pilosoft.

I can vouch for AceDSL. Their customer service is like nothing I've ever
seen before. In a word, amazing. Knowledgable, friendly, professional, and
helpful. They are the paragon of what an ISP should strive to be.
However, expect to pay a premium. It's not just more expensive than
Verizon, it's MUCH more expensive than Verizon. I'm not really sure I can
afford to pay for their service much longer, since I have student loans that
need to get paid and living in NYC is more expensive than I thought it would
be. At 75k, I'm living paycheck to paycheck and hardly saving a dime. Need
to cut costs. Very sad, because I love that company. :(
